One of my favorite events of the session is the Colorado Boys & Girls Club “Youth of the Year” day at the Capitol. Every year, Colorado chapters of the Boys & Girls club send an outstanding member chosen after competitive selection process. I was lucky this year to have Alamosa High School sophomore Ethan Martinez shadow me for the day. Ethan is confident about achieving his current goal to be the first member of his family to attend college. Congratulations to Ethan for representing the San Luis Valley Boys & Girls Club as their “Youth of the Year” and for acting as a role model to his younger siblings and fellow club members. Representative Vigil and I presented Ethan with his medal of recognition at the awards ceremony. Another congratulations goes to Josh Hodgson who was selected as the Chaffee County Boys & Girls Club’s “Youth of the Year,” chosen for his community involvement and leadership. We are so proud of these two outstanding young men and their involvement with SD5′s Boys & Girls Clubs.
